Is this you?

Do you “boil over” at the littlest thing these days?
Do you seem to have less and less patience?
Does everything seem to be getting more challenging?

Step out of the heat – maybe it’s a toxic relationship, a too-tight schedule, a financial stressor, or an unrealistic expectation.

Today as I fixed rice for lunch, it kept boiling over despite the lid being in place. I cleaned up the starchy rice water the best I could and sat the pot back on the stove. It boiled over again in no time.

Why didn’t it work right? What is going on here? WHAT DID I FORGET TO REMEMBER?

The heat, of course. I forgot to turn the heat down to let it simmer as it finished cooking.

It is a metaphor for life: when your emotions keep boiling over and making a mess in your life, turn down the heat. Go for a walk. Talk to a trusted friend. Visit a counselor. Let’s make an effort to care well for ourselves. This act of love will likely create the rest you desire and the peace you crave.
