“Addicts aren’t human.”

“Addicts don’t deserve anything.”

“Population control.”

“Let them die.”

It’s wild how easy those words are for some people to say.

So easy — until it’s your child.

Until you’re the one sitting up at night, planning a funeral instead of a birthday.

Until you’re the one writing your baby’s eulogy after she lost her life to fentanyl poisoning.

It’s easy to judge when you’ve never had to survive the unimaginable.

It’s easy to dehumanize when you’ve never had to watch someone you love fight demons you can’t see.

But let me be clear:

Addicts are human.

They are sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and friends.

They are people who loved deeply, laughed loudly, and dreamed of better days — even if they didn’t know how to get there.

Remember that before you let hate roll off your tongue.

Because someday, heartbreak might find your doorstep too.

And you’ll finally understand what mercy really means.

YouAreLoved.
